Best Rated Masticating Juicer Reviews

For the health buffs among us, you know that the best result when it comes to home juicing is nothing short of using a masticating juicer. This machine slowly crushes, churns and squeezes fruits and vegetables in order to extract every drop of juice available giving you a concentrated liquid of pure nutrients. With a masticating juicer, you can make juice out of anything ranging from carrot to wheatgrass.

But have you seen the listing of masticating juicers lately? With all the brands competing for your attention, it’s really difficult to figure out which one is the right for your needs. In this review, I will break down what I believe to be the top 5 in the market today and present to you its strengths and weaknesses. This way, you’ll have all the necessary information in order to make that wise buying decision.

5 Masticating Juicer: Top Picks

How to Choose the Best Masticating Juicer

Whether for health reasons or you just want to express the desire to crush the life out of fruits and vegetables, a slow masticating juicer is always superior to the fast turning ones. It generates less heat, preserving the vitamins and nutrients out of your juice.

Some juicing enthusiasts also swear that juices from a slow juicer also taste better. So before you head out to my best 5 masticating juicers, check these specs to consider when buying one.

  • Speed : As I have already mentioned, slower juicers are always preferred over faster ones. What you’re looking for here is a juicer that runs at 80rpm (Rounds per Minute) or lower. You will see in the review below that the juicers I’m testing have rpms ranging from 43 to 80. The slow speed, together with a powerful motor produces juice without heating it, keeping the important nutrients intact. The main advantage of mastication juicer over centrifugal juicer is the low rpm. Centrifugal juicers tend to whip up juice too quickly, heating and oxidizing it in the process, leaving you with juice that is degraded and less tasty.
  • Auto pulp ejection: Every juicer knows that while juicing is fun, removing the pulp afterward is not. Luckily for you, auto pulp ejection is a feature that is becoming a standard among masticating juicers. This feature allows the device to push dry pulp down a waiting container while the juice is being extracted and gathered into a separate one. This makes cleaning easy and puts the fun back in juicing. Clogging is also lesser when juicing fibrous ingredients like celery because pulps are constantly being pushed out. This is again another advantage of having a low-speed juicer.
  • Dimension: Different manufacturers design their juicers differently. Some have horizontal dimension while others have vertical. I personally prefer vertical dimension because it eats up less space and it’s easy to store. It also has larger augers making it process juice faster. The horizontal design on the other hand takes up more space and it has a smaller auger resulting in a slower juicing process. But on the upside, the horizontal design also has more food processing option. Some can make baby food and even grinding coffee.
  • Weight: Generally speaking, weight is an indicator that your juicer is made of heavy duty materials like stainless steel. On the other hand, if it’s lighter, it’s mostly made of plastic. Juicers with more powerful motors tend to be heavier too. The juicer that I reviewed in this article ranges from 10 to 20 pounds.
  • Color: While color is not nearly as important compared to the other aspects, it adds a unique look to your kitchen. Most masticating juicers come in either red or chrome but there are also some that come in pink and blue. Your aesthetic side might influence your decision in picking which masticating juicer is right for you.
  • Warranty :I always believe that warranty says a lot about the company making the product. The length of time the manufacturer expects the product to last is part of their warranty calculations. While longer warranty is often associated with higher price tags, it also gives you peace of mind in case something breaks.

Some of the juicers being reviewed here have shorter full warranty but the manufacturer offers longer warranty on the motor. Remember that the motor is the most expensive part of the juicer to repair.

Its 150-Watt motor that runs at a slow speed of 80 rpm ensures that you can grind whatever you like to. The 15-year warranty tells me that the maker is confident that their product can stand the test of time and for that to get 1st position on my list.

Final Thoughts

While most of the juicers that I’ve reviewed have more or less the same features, the Omega J8006 Nutrition Center Juicer stands out as a multi-purpose machine and an unbeatable full warranty. If you have been reading my reviews, you would know by now that multi-functionality and longer warranty is a deal breaker for me.

While I do consider features, in cases like this that features are more or less the same across the board, there is clear advantage for having a multi-functional machine with a longer warranty. In the case of the Omega J8006 Nutrition Center Juicer, 15 years of full warranty is not something to sneer at. If you have a 1-year old this year, your child will be a teenager by the time you exhaust your warranty for this juicer. Your child will practically grow with it in your kitchen.
